Exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing team in a role that provides professional and personal growth.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal to support our legal team in managing and protecting the organization’s intellectual property assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IP law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners. This role involves handling a variety of IP-related tasks, from managing filings and registrations to ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with IP regulations worldwide.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· IP Portfolio Management: Maintain and organize the company’s IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, across both domestic and international jurisdictions. Track deadlines and renewals, ensuring all filings and registrations are up to date.
· Document Preparation and Filing: Work with and manage our third-party provider to oversee the timely preparation, review and filing of IP applications, renewals, and maintenance, including international IP registrations. Liaise with external IP counsel, regulatory agencies, and foreign IP authorities as necessary.
· Compliance and Record Keeping: Ensure compliance with IP laws and regulations by maintaining accurate records and monitoring IP-related activities across global operations. Assist in audits and provide data for IP-related reports to senior management.
· Research and Due Diligence: Conduct research on IP-related matters, including trademark availability, patent landscapes, and competitor IP. Provide summaries and insights to support IP strategy development.
· Infringement Monitoring and Support: Assist in monitoring and enforcing IP rights by identifying potential infringements and supporting legal actions as needed. Collaborate with internal teams to manage IP conflicts and disputes, and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
· Training and Support: Provide guidance and training to business units regarding IP policies and processes. Assist in answering questions and resolving issues related to IP management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Paralegal certification or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience working in IP law.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in IP management within a law firm, for its clients, or within a corporate in-house legal department.
· Strong understanding of IP law, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and research skills.
· High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
· Ability to assess and solve problems and identify process improvements for increased accuracy and efficiency.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve the company’s IP management goals.
