Job Description
A leading healthcare facility in Houston is seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee its Women’s Services departments, including Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum, and NICU. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced nurse leader with a strong perinatal background and a passion for delivering exceptional patient experiences and clinical outcomes.
Department Overview:
- 12 Labor & Delivery Suites
- 5 Operating Rooms dedicated to obstetric procedures
- 4 Antepartum Beds for high-risk pregnancy care
- 36 Postpartum and NICU Beds supporting maternal and neonatal recovery
Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Women’s Services division, with a focus on patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and team development. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, executive leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality maternal and neonatal care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and long-term planning for the Labor and Delivery unit
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes, staff engagement, and performance metrics
- Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation effectively
- Mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering growth and retention
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state eligibility)
- BSN required; Master’s in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in maternal-child health
- Strong clinical background in labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and NICU
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and implement quality improvement strategies
