Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and enhance the safety, health, and environmental program for an industrial construction contractor.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company standards to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability among field supervision and crew members.
  • Develop and manage training programs, including onboarding and task-specific safety education.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, behavior observations, and safety audits.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety integration into project planning and execution processes.
  • Manage documentation related to training, inspections, incidents, and permits.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and systems tailored to industrial construction.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and behavior observations to ensure compliance and identify risks.
  • Lead training programs for employees and subcontractors, ensuring comprehensive safety education.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Analyze safety metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure proper use and availability of PPE and safety tools across job sites.
  • Manage subcontractor safety programs, including prequalification and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety into planning and execution.
  • Address environmental and industrial hygiene issues, such as exposure and hazard control.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within construction or industrial settings.
  • Proficiency in OSHA regulations and safety codes; experience with behavior-based safety programs.
  • Strong skills in audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Effective communication and training abilities to influence field leadership and crews.
  • Competence in data management, metrics analysis, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Capability to work onsite and travel to multiple project locations as required.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Experience managing documentation for training, inspections, and incidents.
