Job Description
Overview
- Lead the Intensive Care Unit as Nurse Manager, ensuring exceptional patient care and operational efficiency.
- Oversee a 20-bed ICU, managing a team of approximately 110 employees.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to enhance employee engagement and retention strategies.
- Develop and implement clinical protocols for medical, cardiac, and neuro patients.
- Ensure compliance with STEMI and Comprehensive Stroke Center standards.
- Foster strong relationships with providers and stakeholders to optimize care delivery.
- Drive productivity improvements and support organizational changes effectively.
- Participate in and chair multiple committees to advance ICU objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage ICU operations with 24/7 responsibility, ensuring quality patient care and staff performance.
- Supervise clinical staff, including Clinical Supervisors, RNs, and Patient Care Technicians.
- Collaborate with the shared Clinical Educator to enhance staff training and development.
- Implement strategies to address staffing recruitment and retention challenges.
- Develop inclusive decision-making processes to foster employee engagement and buy-in.
- Ensure adherence to ICU-specific protocols and standards for diverse patient categories.
- Maintain effective communication with providers to ensure collaborative care delivery.
- Lead initiatives to improve productivity and operational culture within the ICU.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years ICU nursing experience; 7 years preferred.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience in acute care settings.
- Certified Critical Care RN (CCRN) preferred.
- Strong provider communication and relationship-building skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to address staffing challenges and enhance employee engagement.
- Experience with STEMI and Comprehensive Stroke Center protocols preferred.
- Proven ability to lead committees and collaborate with hospital leadership.
