Job Description
Overview
- Lead the operational and clinical functions of the Cardiovascular Services department, including Cath Lab and Echo Lab, ensuring optimal patient care and compliance.
- Supervise and manage technical and human resources to maintain efficient and effective department operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protocols, including JCAHO, state, federal, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with hospital administration and cardiology staff to plan and direct cardiovascular services.
- Develop and administer policies, procedures, and budgets for the department.
- Maintain performance improvement activities and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide leadership and oversight for staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation within the department.
- Serve as a liaison between the Cardiovascular Department and internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage daily operations of the Cardiovascular Services departments, including Cath Lab, Echo Lab, and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
- Ensure compliance with patient care quality standards across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
- Conduct regular rounds to assess department effectiveness and professional atmosphere.
- Flex staffing levels to meet patient volume and optimize throughput.
- Analyze, evaluate, and audit services within the assigned departments for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to maintain 24/7 coverage and on-call schedules for the Cardiac Catheterization Labs and Echo department.
- Develop and interpret policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient department operations.
- Participate in budget formulation and resource allocation for the department.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cardiology-related fields, with 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
- Preferred 2-5 years of experience in a supervisor or manager position.
- BCLS/BLS certification from AHA or ARC within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS/ALS certification within 30 days of hire.
- NIH Stroke Scale certification within 30 days of hire.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership and management skills in healthcare settings.
