Job Description

Overview

  • Lead safety performance and development initiatives across multiple projects and business units.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement corporate safety programs and foster a strong safety culture.
  • Conduct safety inspections and evaluate hazard and incident data to identify trends.
  • Provide mentorship and training to safety department members and site operations staff.
  • Lead crisis response and accident investigations independently.
  • Research and evaluate OSHA regulations to address project-specific safety requirements.
  • Develop and deliver safety toolbox meetings and project orientations effectively.
  • Act as a technical resource for safety-related issues and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage workloads and staffing recommendations for direct reports based on project volume and departmental needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and career development reviews for team members.
  • Evaluate project compliance with safety regulations and procedures, addressing identified challenges.
  • Analyze inspection and incident data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Lead OSHA and third-party safety inspections independently.
  • Develop site-specific safety plans and conduct preconstruction safety meetings.
  • Collaborate with project teams to execute safety stand-downs and training sessions.
  • Research and trial new safety-related products for corporate and project use.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives and committees to enhance safety practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred.
  • Professional safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction safety; 8 years preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of high-hazard technical areas like cranes, fall protection, and excavation.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to define and solve safety-related problems.
  • Proficiency in OSHA regulations and safety inspection processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible and changing schedules and handle confidential information.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency or crisis conditions as needed.
