Job Description

Overview

  • Lead tax strategy, compliance, and planning for a prominent energy organization, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify tax risks and opportunities, supporting organizational goals and financial optimization.
  • Develop and implement policies to streamline tax-related processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Analyze complex financial data and transactions to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
  • Provide expert guidance on tax implications for strategic business decisions and transactions.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and compliance.
  • Contribute to the organization's mission of advancing innovative energy solutions through effective tax management.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tax processes to align with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead tax planning initiatives, including strategies for tax equity structures and compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee preparation of annual tax provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with finance and legal teams to align tax strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Develop, document, and implement policies to enhance tax-related processes and operational efficiency.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify tax implications and opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering professional growth and expertise.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring effective collaboration and compliance.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and industry trends to proactively address compliance requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in tax strategy, compliance, and planning.
  • Preferred 15 years of experience in a leadership role within tax management.
  • Proficiency in managing tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions and complex transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills for reviewing financial data and identifying tax implications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence decisions and drive strategy.
  • Experience with tax equity structures and strategic planning is highly desirable.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or Canada is required.
