Job Description

Overview

  • Lead a high-performing surgical department at a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center.
  • Manage daily operations for seven operating rooms, ensuring optimal efficiency and patient care.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated charge nurse and other department leaders for seamless operations.
  • Oversee approximately 30 OR staff members, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with AAAHC standards and maintain high-quality surgical practices.
  • Contribute to a technologically-advanced facility recognized for excellence in orthopedic procedures.
  • Participate in strategic planning to enhance departmental performance and outcomes.
  • Enjoy work-life flexibility with remote capabilities for certain administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily operations and scheduling for seven operating rooms handling approximately 50 cases daily.
  • Supervise and support the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Manage labor statistics, resolve conflicts, and address operational challenges effectively.
  • Coordinate materials, supplies, and equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Advocate for departmental needs and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure adherence to sterile techniques and maintain high-quality surgical practices.
  • Build relationships with surgical team members and physician partners to enhance operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve team dynamics and departmental performance.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in healthcare management; three years preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sterile processing and central processing operations.
  • Strong understanding of operating room processes, materials management, and sterile techniques.
  • BLS certification required at start; ACLS certification within 90 days; PALS certification preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence for effective team leadership.
  • Ability to manage diverse personalities and complex schedules efficiently.
