Job Description

Overview

  • Provide clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Assist in patient care functions including vital signs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data integrity within electronic medical records.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver age-specific and patient-centered care.
  • Support referral coordination and follow-up for outpatient procedures and specialist appointments.
  • Perform administrative duties including patient registration, scheduling, and payment processing.
  • Maintain professionalism and adherence to confidentiality standards in all interactions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and campaigns to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet patients and guests warmly, ensuring effective communication and timely assistance.
  • Monitor patient flow and resolve issues related to registration and check-in processes.
  • Schedule appointments accurately and verify insurance coverage as required.
  • Perform direct patient care tasks under supervision, including physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with specialists, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Assist in outreach initiatives targeting at-risk patients to reduce emergency visits.
  • Maintain effective communication with healthcare teams, patients, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, including dress code and punctuality.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for certification within 18 months.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant in ambulatory care; 3 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and customer service excellence.
  • Ability to perform age-specific patient care functions and modify approaches accordingly.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours between 8 AM and 6 PM.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
