Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a member of the Care Team, assisting providers with clinical services and administrative tasks to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Support population health initiatives under the guidance of the Practice Administrator and Nurse Manager.
  • Utilize basic medical terminology and demonstrate customer service excellence in patient interactions.
  • Perform patient care functions including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist in patient registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification using electronic systems.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with specialists, ensuring seamless patient care transitions.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Warmly greet patients and guests, ensuring a welcoming environment and addressing their needs promptly.
  • Monitor patient flow and proactively resolve registration, check-in, and check-out issues.
  • Schedule appointments accurately, verify insurance coverage, and manage electronic records.
  • Perform direct patient care tasks such as physical examination preparation and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist care teams with health campaigns and outreach to at-risk patients.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with external specialists, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Collect and label specimens accurately, preparing them for laboratory analysis.
  • Document patient care information in electronic medical records, maintaining data integrity.
  • Participate in team meetings and adhere to organizational standards for punctuality and professionalism.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting required.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR) systems required.
  • Preferred 3 years of experience in a similar role within ambulatory care settings.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care protocols.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic tests and assist in clinical procedures effectively.
