Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring efficient operations and quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement effective plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise and support a team of RNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, compassion, and excellence in patient care.
  • Oversee a unit with 12 beds, 3 ORs, 2 triage beds, and 4-bed PACU.
  • Manage services for approximately 300 births per month, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Director of Women’s Services to achieve departmental goals.
  • Provide leadership in a fast-paced, high-volume labor and delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Plan, organize, and direct unit functions to ensure effective operations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for quality care delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Manage resources effectively, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Provide mentorship and training to staff, fostering professional growth.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Active RN license in practicing state or Compact/Multi-State RN License.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience in Labor and Delivery; leadership experience required.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a high-performing team.
  • Strong knowledge of labor and delivery practices and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
