Job Description
Overview
- Lead the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring efficient operations and quality patient care.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement effective plans, policies, and procedures.
- Supervise and support a team of RNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, compassion, and excellence in patient care.
- Oversee a unit with 12 beds, 3 ORs, 2 triage beds, and 4-bed PACU.
- Manage services for approximately 300 births per month, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Work closely with the Director of Women’s Services to achieve departmental goals.
- Provide leadership in a fast-paced, high-volume labor and delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Plan, organize, and direct unit functions to ensure effective operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for quality care delivery.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing guidance and support.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient safety and satisfaction.
- Provide mentorship and training to staff, fostering professional growth.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Active RN license in practicing state or Compact/Multi-State RN License.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience in Labor and Delivery; leadership experience required.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a high-performing team.
- Strong knowledge of labor and delivery practices and procedures.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
