Occupational Therapist Assistant

Overview

• Provide essential rehabilitative services under an Occupational Therapist's supervision, enhancing patients' independence in daily activities.
• Work primarily with adult and geriatric patients recovering from surgeries or illnesses in a home care setting.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to deliver personalized therapeutic care plans.
• Monitor and document patient progress, ensuring accurate and timely updates to care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on effective recovery strategies and therapeutic practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Implement therapeutic exercises and activities as prescribed to aid patient recovery.
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to adjust care plans based on patient feedback.
• Educate patients and families on techniques to improve daily living and recovery.
• Document treatment outcomes and patient progress in compliance with healthcare standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapeutic sessions.
• Adapt therapeutic approaches to meet individual patient needs and conditions.
• Maintain effective communication with healthcare teams and family members.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.

Job Requirements

• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field.
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license, open to new graduates.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience, with 2 years preferred.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercises and patient care practices.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a home care setting.
• Proficiency in adapting care plans to individual patient needs.
