Overview

  • Provide genetic counseling services to individuals and families, assessing risks for inherited conditions and offering informed decision-making support.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret genetic data and recommend appropriate testing and management strategies.
  • Support patients emotionally and psychologically throughout the genetic testing and counseling process.
  • Conduct research related to genetic conditions and advancements in genetic counseling practices.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining compassionate and individualized patient care.
  • Utilize expertise in fertility genetics to guide patients in understanding risks and options.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of patient histories and counseling outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of treatment plans based on genetic data and patient needs.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze and interpret genetic information to identify risks for inherited conditions.
  • Provide counseling on the implications of genetic disorders and available management options.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend genetic testing based on patient data.
  • Collaborate with patients to understand family histories and medical records.
  • Explain diagnostic procedures and their implications to patients.
  • Address emotional and psychological needs of patients during counseling sessions.
  • Support patients undergoing genetic tests and provide guidance on results.
  • Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions and genetic data analysis.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree from an ABGC-accredited university in genetic counseling or related field.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in genetic counseling.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fertility genetics counseling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in time management and critical thinking.
