Job Description

Overview

  • The Senior Accountant, General Ledger, ensures accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations, supporting the company's accounting activities and processes.
  • This role involves managing daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Assist in preparation of tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and other filings.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of new financial processes for efficiency.
  • Support year-end audits and prepare necessary workpapers and documentation.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and review team member reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial statements and ensure accurate revenue recognition per GAAP standards.
  • Monitor indirect cost rates and align them with billing rates and submissions.
  • Assist in preparing incurred cost submissions and resolving transaction discrepancies.
  • Support payroll system integration with accounting systems for alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and assist in tax return preparation.
  • Contribute to the development of financial processes and perform other assigned duties.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, including payroll and senior-level responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with Microsoft Navision/Business Central preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP standards, tax laws, and payroll regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Concur and payroll certifications (e.g., CPP) or CPA designation preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Familiarity with FAR, CAS, and government accounting practices is advantageous.
