Job Description

Overview

  • Manage accounting and billing operations for a dynamic law firm's offices.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely filing of tax reports and compliance with regulations.
  • Supervise department staff, coordinating work and conducting performance reviews.
  • Develop efficient processes and procedures for accounting operations.
  • Support retirement plan administration and vendor contract negotiations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and distribute accurate billing reports to attorneys and clients.
  • Manage month-end close procedures and ensure compliance in billing processes.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from attorneys, clients, and staff regarding billing.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and tax compliance activities.
  • Oversee reconciliation of client accounts and provide necessary analyses.
  • Ensure high levels of customer service in all financial interactions.
  • Assess and propose solutions for inefficiencies in accounting operations.
  • Supervise and mentor department staff, fostering professional growth.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA license is preferred for this role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in law firm accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Aderant Expert Time is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and staff.
  • Experience in managing payroll and tax compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
