Job Description

Overview

  • Contribute to a mission-driven organization as a Senior Accountant in a hybrid work environment.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations and corporate tax return preparations.
  • Support annual audit activities by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
  • Collaborate with departments to reconcile corporate support and exhibits quarterly.
  • Provide backup support to other Senior Accountants and assist with on-site registration at events.
  • Utilize analytical skills to identify and resolve financial discrepancies effectively.
  • Engage in a supportive and inclusive culture while advancing professional growth.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile multiple general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Analyze financial variances and discrepancies within statements to identify root causes.
  • Assist auditors by providing requested information for annual audits and corporate tax returns.
  • Oversee temporarily restricted funds and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with departments to reconcile corporate support and exhibits quarterly.
  • Provide accounting support during the organization’s annual meeting as needed.
  • Serve as backup for other Senior Accountants, ensuring continuity of operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency in standard business applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for out-of-town engagements.
