Job Description

Overview

  • Provide comprehensive dental hygiene services under the supervision of a licensed dentist in a community health setting.
  • Perform oral prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing to ensure optimal oral health for patients.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and denture care.
  • Maintain accurate dental treatment charts and records using Dentrix software.
  • Conduct health screenings and oral examinations to identify dental conditions and report findings to the dentist.
  • Expose and process dental radiographs, interpret results, and alert the dentist to observations.
  • Work collaboratively with the dental team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Utilize considerable independent judgment to provide appropriate dental services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform oral prophylaxis, scaling, and polishing using specialized dental instruments.
  • Examine patients' mouths to identify dental issues such as periodontal disease or decay.
  • Educate patients on maintaining oral health and proper hygiene techniques.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in Dentrix software.
  • Expose and process dental radiographs, interpret findings, and communicate observations to the dentist.
  • Assist in health screenings and oral examinations, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on advancements in dental hygiene practices and technologies.

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in dental hygiene is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Dentrix dental electronic medical record software is preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Interest in employment within a community health center setting.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish proficiency is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site during standard business hours with occasional weekends.
