Job Description

Overview

  • Assess and underwrite credit transactions for small and medium-sized businesses, ensuring alignment with risk parameters and organizational goals.
  • Analyze financial data, including cash flows and business performance, to evaluate creditworthiness and recommend funding terms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and partners to structure transactions that meet client needs while adhering to risk guidelines.
  • Utilize advanced financial modeling and analytics to assess transaction risks and industry exposure effectively.
  • Monitor post-funding performance, identifying early indicators of credit deterioration and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Stay informed on market trends and developments in alternative lending to enhance underwriting practices.
  • Contribute to maintaining compliance standards and ensuring clear documentation of underwriting decisions.
  • Support the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct detailed analysis of financial health and creditworthiness of applicants, focusing on cash flow and revenue trends.
  • Perform thorough due diligence by reviewing financial documentation, including bank statements and tax returns.
  • Utilize financial modeling tools to evaluate transaction risks and business stability effectively.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to structure transactions within established risk guidelines and organizational objectives.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation supporting underwriting decisions and compliance standards.
  • Monitor funded transactions, identifying indicators of credit deterioration and proposing actionable solutions.
  • Stay updated on market trends and developments in alternative lending products to enhance decision-making.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting policies and procedures to align with industry best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in underwriting or credit analysis, preferably within alternative finance sectors.
  • Proficiency in financial statement and cash flow analysis, with a proven ability to assess credit risk.
  • Familiarity with non-traditional lending structures and alternative finance products.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with underwriting platforms and tools.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA or CPA are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
