Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage emergency department operations in a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
  • Develop and implement policies to enhance patient care and department efficiency.
  • Coordinate services within the department and with other hospital units.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to clinical and administrative staff.
  • Oversee financial, environmental, and human resource aspects of the department.
  • Act as a liaison with medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Support staff development through training, education, and performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage daily operations of the emergency department, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with budgetary constraints and regulatory standards.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate staff to meet department needs.
  • Develop and evaluate policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate services and improve patient care.
  • Provide ongoing updates and communication to staff regarding department operations.
  • Ensure staff adherence to safety protocols and professional standards.
  • Oversee disciplinary actions and employee relations within the department.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care emergency department experience.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course certification within one year of employment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in policy development, budget management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work on-site during evening shifts and rotating call schedules.
