Overview
- Lead and maintain the standard costing process for a dynamic footwear business, ensuring accurate inventory valuation and margin integrity across wholesale, retail, and eCommerce channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address pricing discrepancies and enhance financial controls, contributing to the organization's operational and financial success.
- Provide actionable reporting and insights to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and strengthen internal controls around cost accounting and inventory management.
- Utilize advanced ERP systems and Excel skills to manage large datasets and perform detailed financial analyses.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and journal entries.
- Support the organization’s growth by proactively identifying financial risks and implementing effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintain and review standard costs for all footwear SKUs, ensuring integrity within the ERP system and timely updates for price changes.
- Analyze purchase price variances, FOB variances, duty variances, and freight variances, investigating root causes and addressing cost deviations.
- Monitor sales transactions to detect margin erosion and products sold below standard cost, collaborating with teams to address discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and compliance with GAAP standards, leading monthly reconciliations and cost-related journal entries.
- Strengthen internal controls around standard costing, markdowns, and margin reporting, ensuring financial integrity.
- Provide actionable reporting to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory and other financial areas as requested.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, with a strong foundation in cost accounting principles.
- Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in footwear, apparel, or consumer goods industries.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, with preference for experience in BlueCherry.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and handling large datasets.
- Deep understanding of GAAP standards and inventory controls.
- Highly analytical with strong investigative skills and proactive risk identification abilities.
- Effective communicator capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
