Senior Software Engineer – Atak Plugins

Overview

• Develop and maintain ATAK plugins for geospatial visualization and satellite imagery management.
• Collaborate with government customers to deliver optimized tactical field solutions.
• Participate in sprint cycles with iterative feature delivery and operator feedback.
• Implement offline imagery management for disconnected environments.
• Work with geospatial data formats and standards for advanced visualization.
• Integrate REST APIs into Android applications for seamless functionality.
• Develop operator-focused UX optimized for tactical use cases.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Design and develop ATAK plugins including satellite tasking and order management features.
• Build geospatial visualization layers with imagery overlays and measurement tools.
• Implement cached imagery management for DDIL environments.
• Collaborate with government customers for feature reviews and training delivery.
• Integrate imagery search and metadata retrieval functionalities.
• Participate in agile development cycles with operator feedback loops.
• Optimize UX for tactical field use distinct from commercial platforms.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field, preferably Computer Science.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.
• Direct experience developing ATAK plugins using ATAK SDK.
• Proficiency with geospatial data formats and standards.
• Experience integrating REST APIs into Android applications.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Gradle-based Android build systems.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Background in GEOINT or NGA standards is a plus.
• Knowledge of satellite imagery workflows is advantageous.
