Job Description

Overview

  • Lead strategic tax planning and research initiatives to optimize organizational tax strategies and compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align tax strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Drive process improvements and implement technology solutions to enhance tax department efficiency.
  • Oversee compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting, and policyholder reporting requirements.
  • Engage with industry groups to address legislative and technical tax issues effectively.
  • Present tax strategies and updates to stakeholders, including senior leadership and the board.
  • Foster team development through staffing, training, and leadership initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives to optimize organizational tax obligations.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis activities within the tax department.
  • Collaborate with legal and operations teams on compliance and reporting matters.
  • Address emerging tax-related financial reporting issues with innovative solutions.
  • Coordinate with industry groups to influence legislative and technical tax developments.
  • Present tax strategies and updates to senior leadership and board members.
  • Drive team development through training, mentorship, and leadership initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and reporting requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with 15 years preferred.
  • Advanced degrees such as JD or MST are highly valued.
  • Experience in large accounting or law firms is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and project management capabilities.
