Insurance Specialist

Overview

• Manage diverse insurance claims, including marine cargo, property, liability, and workers’ compensation, ensuring efficient resolution and compliance.
• Collaborate with brokers, carriers, adjusters, and legal counsel to optimize claims outcomes and mitigate risks.
• Support contract reviews by analyzing insurance provisions and identifying potential coverage gaps.
• Provide detailed loss history and claim summaries to assist with policy renewals and strategic planning.
• Contribute to special insurance projects, enhancing departmental effectiveness and cross-functional collaboration.
• Operate independently in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Handle comprehensive claims processes across multiple insurance lines, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
• Analyze insurance policies to assess coverage, exclusions, and deductibles, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including brokers and legal counsel, to address complex claims scenarios.
• Evaluate insurance clauses in contracts to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Prepare detailed claim notifications and summaries to support policy renewal processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve claims and enhance recovery efforts strategically.
• Assist senior management with special projects and cross-functional initiatives to achieve organizational goals.
• Utilize advanced claims systems and tools to streamline operations and maintain high efficiency.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience handling multi-line insurance claims, including marine and litigated cases.
• Proficiency in analyzing insurance policies, ISO forms, and contractual risk transfer principles.
• Experience collaborating with external counsel and adjusters on complex claims resolutions.
• Strong technical skills in claims handling, policy interpretation, and risk assessment.
• Effective communication abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders and present findings clearly.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.
• Proficiency in claims systems, document management platforms, and advanced Microsoft Office tools.
