Overview

  • Support financial oversight of capital investment activities across a diverse portfolio, focusing on development and build-to-suit construction accounting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial tracking of construction and development projects.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives to streamline construction and development oversight processes.
  • Gain exposure to various real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and quarterly close processes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain and support construction and development cost data for accurate project activity tracking.
  • Review capitalization activity for compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address construction and development-related inquiries.
  • Prepare recurring and project-specific financial reports for stakeholders.
  • Partner with property accounting teams to ensure timely placement of capital projects into service.
  • Identify workflow improvement opportunities and contribute to efficiency-focused initiatives.
  • Support broader real estate activities, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and quarterly close processes.
  • Contribute to centralized oversight of construction and development activities across the portfolio.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in construction and development job cost accounting.
  • Experience in property accounting and general ledger analysis is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel; knowledge of JDE, Hyperion suite, or Workiva is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a dynamic workload effectively.
  • Experience in public accounting or public company environments is a plus.
