Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the surgical services department, ensuring exceptional patient care and operational efficiency across all surgical phases.
  • Drive innovation and implement evidence-based practices to elevate nursing care standards and departmental strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize sterile processing operations and pain procedure management.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain quality monitors and performance improvement activities.
  • Conduct staff evaluations, orientation programs, and competency reviews to build a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Participate in budgetary planning, equipment maintenance, and procurement to meet departmental needs effectively.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the surgical services team.
  • Support organizational goals by aligning department objectives with broader healthcare strategies.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Coordinate operating room schedules, personnel assignments, and surgery distribution to optimize department efficiency.
  • Supervise patient care across all surgical phases, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Monitor and address quality indicators, including asepsis, equipment readiness, and medication inventory.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant committees and managers.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, in-service training, and competency reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Ensure timely completion of certifications and training for all team members.
  • Provide detailed administrative reports on census, performance improvement activities, and meeting outcomes.
  • Respond to equipment variances and schedule repairs to maintain operational readiness.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing leadership experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Active RN license and certifications in CNOR, BLS, and NIMS IS 100, 200, and 700.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical services operations and patient care standards.
  • Ability to manage budgets, equipment procurement, and staff scheduling effectively.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in conducting evaluations and competency reviews.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with interdisciplinary teams.
