Overview
- Lead and manage surgical services operations, ensuring quality improvement and patient satisfaction goals are met.
- Supervise and coordinate staff across Operating Room, CVOR, anesthesia, and sterile processing departments.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with hospital leadership, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Ensure compliance with JCAHO standards, hospital policies, and procedures.
- Manage resources, supplies, and equipment to optimize department efficiency.
- Promote teamwork and customer satisfaction within the surgical services team.
- Oversee scheduling, hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for department staff.
- Support the professional development of team members through mentoring and training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Plan and prepare staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of RN, CST, FA, schedulers, OR aides, and anesthesia staff.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets to achieve fiscal stability and productivity goals.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies within all surgical services areas.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and physicians to enhance surgical services operations.
- Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Develop strategies to improve patient satisfaction and surgical outcomes.
- Lead initiatives to enhance teamwork and communication among surgical services staff.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Science (AS) in Nursing or related field required.
- Minimum 3 years of RN OR experience in acute care settings.
- At least 1 year of recent OR leadership experience as a Charge Nurse or Coordinator.
- CNOR certification preferred; ACLS and BCLS certifications required within specified timeframes.
- Strong knowledge of JCAHO standards and hospital policies.
- Proven ability to manage and lead diverse surgical teams effectively.
- Experience in budget management and resource optimization.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with healthcare professionals.
