Overview
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts for high-reliability systems in regulated domains, ensuring structural robustness and durability under extreme conditions.
- Develop mechanical architectures for electromechanical systems, integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems with precision.
- Perform advanced simulations to predict and mitigate failure modes, including FEA, modal, vibration, shock, and thermal analyses.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Guide prototype builds and ensure designs meet production standards without compromising performance.
- Author comprehensive mechanical design documentation, including drawings, simulation reports, and validation protocols.
- Mentor engineering teams, elevating mechanical design standards across the organization.
- Identify mechanical risks early, implement mitigation strategies, and lead high-level design reviews.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Own mechanical architecture for systems meeting MIL-STD-810 requirements, ensuring structural reliability in harsh environments.
- Perform critical evaluations of mechanical simulations to address real-world challenges and ensure design integrity.
- Drive electromechanical integration, ensuring precise alignment for sensors, actuators, and wiring systems.
- Lead structural qualification, environmental testing, and failure analysis for safety-critical products.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready while maintaining performance standards.
- Enforce Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) principles throughout the product lifecycle.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
- Conduct cross-functional design reviews and implement strategies to mitigate mechanical risks effectively.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a top-tier institution; Master's or PhD preferred.
- 10+ years of experience delivering complex mechanical systems in high-reliability domains.
- Proficiency in structural, vibration, shock, and thermal simulations using tools like ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation.
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
- Deep knowledge of MIL-STD-810 requirements and electromechanical integration principles.
- Experience with prototype development, additive manufacturing, and complex assemblies.
- Strong foundation in fluid dynamics, thermal management, and heat transfer.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver high-consequence design decisions.
