Overview
- Serve as a Dental Hygienist at a reputable dental school, providing essential preventative oral health care services.
- Deliver clinical, educational, and therapeutic services to promote optimal oral health for patients.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies, treatment plans, and preventative care practices.
- Perform dental cleanings, scaling, root planning, and administer therapeutic agents and local anesthesia.
- Adhere to OSHA standards for infection control and universal precautions to ensure patient safety.
- Conduct oral cancer screenings, perio assessments, and chart dental findings accurately.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy policies.
- Ensure operatory and instrument sterilization before and after each patient interaction.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide dental education by reviewing home care and oral hygiene instructions with patients.
- Expose radiographs and perform dental cleanings, scaling, and root planning procedures.
- Administer local anesthesia and therapeutic agents as required during treatments.
- Inspect and sterilize instruments, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Collect and update patient medical history, identifying contraindications and obtaining medical clearances.
- Perform oral cancer screenings and periodontal assessments, documenting findings accurately.
- Set up and break down operatories and treatment bays before and after patient appointments.
- Ensure compliance with state licensure requirements and maintain certifications throughout employment.
Job Requirements
- Vocational, Technical, or Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene.
- Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in dental hygiene practices.
- Proficiency in conducting oral cancer screenings and periodontal assessments.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and infection control protocols.
- Ability to educate patients on oral hygiene strategies and nutritional counseling.
- Proof of immunity for specified diseases and recent tuberculosis skin test results.
- Strong commitment to patient privacy and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
