Investment Controller

Overview

• Lead financial reporting and accounting operations for a diverse real estate investment portfolio.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies within accounting workflows.
• Support audits, lender reporting, and investor requirements with detailed financial insights.
• Oversee onboarding of new properties and transitions between service providers.
• Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and internal controls across all financial activities.
• Participate in special projects and system implementations to enhance accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Manage relationships with outsourced accounting service providers, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Review financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries prepared by external teams.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned investments.
• Monitor property-level operating results, capital expenditures, and investment performance.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Support audit requests and reporting requirements for lenders and investors.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance communication.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 6–10 years of experience in real estate investment or property accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with real estate accounting platforms.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Experience managing outsourced accounting providers and driving process improvements.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate cross-functional teams effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities and external partnerships.
