Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients entering the healthcare center, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment.
  • Assist patients with registration, insurance verification, and scheduling follow-up appointments with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients and internal/external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues effectively.
  • Facilitate the smooth operation of the clinic front office, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the reception area.
  • Support providers by managing patient schedules, conducting reminder calls, and ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Document patient information accurately, including insurance eligibility and demographic data, during each visit.
  • Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with team members to optimize clinic operations.
  • Handle co-payments and sliding scale fees, ensuring accurate reconciliation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet and register patients, ensuring accurate completion of enrollment documentation and insurance verification.
  • Schedule patient appointments professionally, maintaining efficiency and accuracy in the process.
  • Conduct outreach to patients for appointment reminders and rescheduling as needed.
  • Maintain reception area cleanliness and organization, creating a positive experience for all visitors.
  • Assist patients with sliding fee scale applications, verifying and following up on required documents.
  • Prepare medical insurance billing forms and ensure accurate documentation in patient records.
  • Provide support for uninsured programs and distribute metro cards to patients as required.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Clinic Manager or Health Center Director for resolution.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications in healthcare administration are a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field; 2 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in eClinicalWorks or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with standard practices and procedures within the medical field.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to address patient inquiries effectively.
  • Spanish-speaking candidates preferred to support diverse patient populations.
  • Availability to work evening and weekend shifts as required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
