Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage legal billing operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in alignment with organizational standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and administrative teams to develop and implement tailored billing strategies for optimal client satisfaction.
  • Oversee unbilled inventory, identifying opportunities for process improvement and ensuring timely invoicing.
  • Prepare, review, and finalize detailed client invoices, ensuring clarity and adherence to contractual agreements.
  • Analyze billing data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, attorneys, and billing staff to address and resolve billing inquiries effectively.
  • Support a hybrid work environment, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to organizational success.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Draft, review, and finalize client invoices with detailed narratives and summaries for submission.
  • Monitor billing cycles, addressing discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to align billing practices with client preferences and contractual requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve billing-related issues, ensuring client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on billing procedures, software, and compliance standards.
  • Analyze billing data to identify trends and recommend process enhancements for improved efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support auditing and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of billing policies and procedures to enhance overall operations.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Arts (AA) degree in a relevant field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in legal billing, preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Proficiency in legal billing software and strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines in a hybrid work setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to compliance standards in legal billing.
