Overview
- Provide high-quality medical dermatology care in a rural healthcare setting, focusing on patient-centered treatment and continuity of care.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive dermatologic evaluations and treatments.
- Perform dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, lesion removal, and wound care management.
- Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Participate in ongoing professional development and dermatology-focused education.
- Ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and HIPAA standards.
- Contribute to expanding access to dermatology services in underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin exams and patient histories.
- Diagnose and manage various dermatologic conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.
- Evaluate and treat precancerous and cancerous skin lesions within scope of practice.
- Perform dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, and lesion removal.
- Order and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic testing results.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure guidelines.
- Educate patients on disease prevention and treatment plans to enhance skin health.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the improvement of clinical practices.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Active North Carolina NP or PA license with national certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of dermatology experience beyond clinical rotations.
- Preferred dermatology certification or willingness to obtain certification within one year.
- Proficiency in dermatologic procedures such as biopsies and cryotherapy.
- Familiarity with dermatoscopy and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
- Commitment to providing care in rural healthcare settings.
- Excellent communication and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
