Director of Architecture Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead and manage complex architectural projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Mentor and guide project managers, architects, and emerging professionals within the firm.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, staffing, consultant coordination, and client communication.
• Maintain high standards for technical quality, documentation, and project delivery.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on operational initiatives and strategic planning.
• Develop and implement internal standards, processes, and best practices.
• Foster a collaborative and positive office culture prioritizing mentorship and teamwork.
• Act as the senior technical resource for the firm, providing guidance and expertise.

Director of Architecture Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.Arch.) or equivalent required.
• 20–30+ years of architectural experience with increasing leadership responsibilities.
• Proven experience managing large, complex architectural projects through all phases.
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems, construction documents, and building codes.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop project teams effectively.
• Registered Architect preferred; proficiency in Revit is highly desirable.
• Experience contributing to firm operations, staffing, and business planning preferred.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills are essential.
