Associate Director, Molecular Diagnostic Programs Overview

  • The Associate Director, Molecular Diagnostic Programs will oversee diagnostic initiatives supporting rare disease patient identification and timely diagnosis.
  • Utilize technical, genetic, and diagnostic expertise to manage program activities and develop new diagnostic programs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Medical Affairs, Publications, Bioinformatics, and Commercial for program operations.
  • Engage with clinicians regarding diagnostic testing and contribute to commercial test development efforts.
  • Provide leadership in gene locus-specific database programs and molecular diagnostics reporting.
  • Support training initiatives and ensure compliance in molecular diagnostics program materials.
  • Work in a remote capacity, offering flexibility and autonomy in program management.

Associate Director, Molecular Diagnostic Programs Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor data and manage materials for molecular diagnostics programs supporting rare disease franchises.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory testing program materials, ensuring compliance and conducting training sessions.
  • Collaborate with scientific, laboratory, and medical experts to ensure program operations.
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis and report program statuses to internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development and maintenance of gene locus-specific database programs.
  • Engage with clinicians regarding diagnostic testing and contribute to commercial test development.
  • Ensure timely delivery of program deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide analytical insights and problem-solving expertise for program improvement.

Associate Director, Molecular Diagnostic Programs Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in genetics, biochemistry, genetic counseling, molecular biology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, with preference for 10 years.
  • Proven experience in commercial genetic, biochemical, or diagnostic assay development.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills in deadline-driven environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
  • Preferred skills: data visualization software (PowerBI), HGVS nomenclature, molecular/biochemical testing, or disease databasing.
  • Ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships effectively.
  • Experience in training and compliance review of program materials.
