Staff Propulsion Integration Engineer Overview

  • The Staff Propulsion Integration Engineer will lead propulsion system architecture for advanced unmanned aircraft, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to design, test, and optimize propulsion systems from concept to flight.
  • Provide technical leadership in propulsion integration, mentoring engineers and defining strategies for future aircraft propulsion systems.
  • Engage with suppliers and partners to oversee external engineering activities and hardware delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge unmanned aircraft technologies in a dynamic and innovative environment.
  • Ensure propulsion systems meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards through rigorous testing and analysis.
  • Travel occasionally to supplier facilities and test locations to support development activities.

Staff Propulsion Integration Engineer Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead propulsion system design, integration, and optimization for advanced unmanned aircraft.
  • Conduct propulsion trade studies and performance assessments to balance technical and cost constraints.
  • Design, prototype, and validate propulsion components and systems from concept to flight readiness.
  • Plan and execute propulsion development programs, including laboratory, ground, and flight testing.
  • Analyze test data, investigate failures, and implement corrective actions to enhance system reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful propulsion integration throughout development.
  • Mentor engineers, providing technical guidance and promoting best practices in propulsion engineering.
  • Support customer demonstrations, flight test operations, and field activities as needed.

Staff Propulsion Integration Engineer Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in propulsion system design, integration, and testing for aircraft.
  • Expertise in gas turbine engine operation and propulsion-airframe integration.
  • Proficiency in mechanical CAD and manufacturing processes, including machining and composites.
  • Experience with propulsion system testing, data analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Strong communication skills to influence teams and drive engineering decisions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Preferred experience with Siemens NX, FADEC development, and supplier management.
