Staff Fluid Systems Engineer Overview
- The Staff Fluid Systems Engineer will lead the architecture, integration, and validation of aircraft fluid systems for advanced autonomous air vehicles.
- Provide technical leadership for critical subsystems, collaborating across disciplines to develop robust, flight-ready solutions from concept to production.
- Utilize exceptional engineering judgment and expertise to solve complex multidisciplinary problems and elevate technical standards across the organization.
- Contribute to the development of unconventional aircraft configurations, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Engage in cross-functional integration with propulsion, structures, avionics, controls, and other teams to achieve vehicle-level success.
- Mentor engineers and establish engineering standards to enhance technical execution and innovation.
- Support customer demonstrations, supplier engagements, and flight test activities to showcase capabilities and ensure project success.
Staff Fluid Systems Engineer Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Define architecture, interfaces, and system requirements for fuel, hydraulic, thermal management, environmental control, and pneumatic systems.
- Lead subsystem development, making critical technical decisions balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
- Perform analytical work, including fluid network modeling and thermal analysis, to support architecture decisions.
- Oversee the selection, development, and integration of aerospace fluid hardware, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Drive cross-functional integration to ensure successful vehicle-level performance and subsystem qualification.
- Lead technical reviews, design trades, and failure investigations throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop verification strategies and lead subsystem qualification through rigorous testing and data analysis.
- Build strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure engineering oversight and production readiness.
Staff Fluid Systems Engineer Job Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace fluid systems development, with ownership of complex subsystems.
- Expertise in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and aerospace fluid system design.
- Proficiency with system-level modeling tools and 3D CAD software (NX preferred).
- Experience with unconventional aircraft configurations and clean-sheet aircraft development.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
- Strong hands-on engineering experience with prototype development and testing.
