Fund Controller Overview
- The Fund Controller will oversee financial operations within a dynamic family office environment, supporting the CFO and principals with financial management and reporting.
- Act as the #2 to the CFO in a growing organization, managing complex investments and financial processes.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all regulations.
- Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger management, cash flow forecasting, and investment accounting.
- Contribute to the implementation of new technologies to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Fund Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead general ledger accounting and financial reporting for all family-related entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, providing detailed insights into financial performance.
- Manage investment accounting, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring transparency and compliance.
- Implement and maintain accounting and operational processes and controls to optimize efficiency.
- Oversee cash balances, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning to support organizational goals.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
- Supervise junior accounting staff, ensuring professional development and operational support.
- Manage personal, household, trust, and operating company expenses with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Handle ad-hoc projects and requests from principals, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness.
Fund Controller Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field is required.
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA is mandatory.
- 7-12+ years of progressive experience in a family office, private banking, or investment fund.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Addepar, with experience in software migration or implementation.
- Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, and AI tools.
- Experience with consolidations, GAAP financial reporting, and investment activities is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a service-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must be comfortable working on-site five days a week in a pet-friendly environment.
