Job Description

Perioperative Nurse Manager Overview

  • Lead perioperative services, sterile processing, and procedural areas as a Perioperative Nurse Manager.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, patient-centered care delivery aligned with organizational policies and evidence-based practices.
  • Support direct patient care as a working leader in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage a growing service line with robotics, orthopedics, gastroenterology, and other specialties.
  • Oversee 25 staff members and directly supervise 2 reports to ensure operational excellence.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and workforce development initiatives within surgical services.
  • Work in a facility handling 200-230 cases monthly across two operating rooms and procedure rooms.

Perioperative Nurse Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide operational leadership for perioperative services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize clinical and operational efficiency.
  • Promote quality, safety, and patient satisfaction through evidence-based practices.
  • Manage financial resources and budgets to support service line growth.
  • Engage in workforce development, fostering employee engagement and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance communication and care coordination.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources in sterile processing and procedural areas.
  • Support direct patient care activities to maintain high standards of service delivery.

Perioperative Nurse Manager Job Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Active Wisconsin RN license with CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years of OR experience; 7 years preferred.
  • Master’s degree and leadership experience are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead change effectively.
  • Knowledge of arrhythmia and 12-lead ECG interpretation preferred.
