Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the Med/Surg/Tele department in a dynamic healthcare setting, ensuring optimal patient care and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based practices and achieve departmental goals.
  • Manage staff development, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies to maintain accreditation and quality care.
  • Oversee resource allocation, including staffing and budgeting, to optimize department efficiency.
  • Provide leadership in emergency situations, ensuring patient safety and effective response protocols.
  • Engage in strategic planning to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in hospital-wide initiatives to support organizational goals and community health improvement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise daily operations of the Med/Surg/Tele department, ensuring efficient workflow and patient care delivery.
  • Develop and implement staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with labor laws.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Facilitate communication between staff, patients, and families to ensure satisfaction and resolution of concerns.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless patient transitions and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Lead training sessions and workshops to enhance staff competencies and knowledge.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Med/Surg/Tele nursing; 3 years preferred.
  • Current California RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications required.
  • Proficiency in basic EKG interpretation or completion of an EKG course within six months.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including charge nurse or supervisory roles, preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make informed decisions.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and delivering high-quality patient care.
