Primary Care Physician Overview

Primary Care Physician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide care for patients with acute and chronic illnesses, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Lead a care team to coordinate patient care and promote health education.
  • Engage with hospitalists and specialists for comprehensive patient management.
  • Perform assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and documentation for complex health needs.
  • Participate in risk and quality management programs and clinical meetings.
  • Recruit patients and providers to support center growth and community impact.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Practitioners to ensure quality care.
  • Adhere to departmental goals, regulatory compliance, and organizational policies.

Primary Care Physician Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics.
  • Active state medical license and DEA certification for controlled substances.
  • Board certification in relevant specialties, maintaining certification through CME and exams.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other healthcare-related software.
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care and outcomes-focused practices.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally for training and recruiting purposes.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills may be required for specific centers.
