Emergency Department Nurse Director Overview

  • Lead one of the busiest emergency departments in the nation, ensuring high-quality and efficient patient care delivery.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to enhance emergency services and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and excellence within the emergency department team.
  • Oversee workforce strategies to stabilize staffing and reduce reliance on temporary personnel.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow and care transitions.
  • Drive initiatives to improve throughput metrics and enhance patient outcomes.
  • Lead emergency department renovation planning and operational adjustments during infrastructure upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with EMTALA, triage standards, and other regulatory requirements.

Emergency Department Nurse Director Job Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing or related field required.
  • Current RN license permitting work in the state of Arizona.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in emergency services.
  • Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN, CPEN) or Nursing Leadership (NE-BC, NEA-BC) preferred.
  • Experience managing high-volume emergency departments and throughput optimization.
