Interim Director of Pharmacy Overview

  • Serve as Interim Director of Pharmacy, overseeing operations and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Manage inpatient pharmacy operations, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure adherence to USP 797 and 800 standards for sterile compounding practices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize medication management and patient care outcomes.
  • Support recruitment efforts for permanent pharmacy staff, stabilizing operations during the interim period.
  • Represent the client in meetings, maintaining professionalism and upholding organizational values.
  • Utilize Meditech and Omnicell systems to streamline pharmacy processes and ensure operational efficiency.

Interim Director of Pharmacy Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to protocols.
  • Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct limited on-call duties as required, addressing urgent pharmacy needs.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensure requirements and healthcare regulations.
  • Manage sterile compounding processes, adhering to USP 797 and 800 standards.
  • Participate in meetings to represent pharmacy operations and provide insights for improvement.

Interim Director of Pharmacy Job Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Pharmacy or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy management; 10 years preferred.
  • State licensure in Iowa or willingness to obtain temporary licensure.
  • Proficiency in Meditech and Omnicell systems for pharmacy operations.
  • Knowledge of USP 797 and 800 standards for sterile compounding practices.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage teams and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally in meetings and collaborations.
