Job Description

Registered Nurse Overview

  • The Registered Nurse will oversee daily nursing operations within an assisted living unit, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain high-quality care and service coverage for residents.
  • Supervise nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, CMAs, and HHAs, ensuring optimal staffing levels and performance.
  • Participate in policy development, implementation, and compliance monitoring to enhance nursing practices.
  • Support care planning processes, including scheduling, documentation, and resident care plan reviews.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents thoroughly, ensuring comprehensive documentation and timely resolution.
  • Monitor electronic charting systems for accuracy and ensure prompt responses to nurse call alerts.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs to uphold high standards of resident care.
  • Develop proficiency in person-centered care practices for residents with dementia.

Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist in directing daily functions of the nursing department, adhering to healthcare regulations and facility policies.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and manage scheduling, payroll, and staff assignments.
  • Develop and revise nursing policies, conduct audits, and oversee compliance adherence.
  • Support care planning, including documentation, goal setting, and intervention adjustments.
  • Investigate and document incidents, ensuring thorough follow-up and resolution.
  • Monitor and manage nurse call alert systems, ensuring prompt responses and resolution.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives to maintain high care standards.
  • Float to other units as needed to provide supervisory coverage.

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and valid New Jersey RN license required.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Nursing Supervisor in assisted living or long-term care.
  • Proficiency in electronic charting systems, EMAR, and ETAR preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, adaptable to change and crisis management.
  • Ability to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Commitment to providing person-centered care for residents with dementia.
  • Physical capability to perform essential duties, including lifting and moving supplies.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
