Controls Technician Overview
- As a Controls Technician, you will ensure the functionality and efficiency of electrical systems and equipment within the production environment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, ensuring operational continuity.
- Implement corrective measures and recommend improvements to enhance equipment performance and production efficiency.
- Support investigations related to product quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Provide progress reports and updates on project developments to management.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities and ensure adherence to 5S principles.
- Perform cable building and support laser cell operations during production.
- Work independently on routine tasks and contribute to achieving business plan goals.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and standards in all activities.
Controls Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, ensuring minimal production downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement corrective measures and efficiency improvements.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities and support laser welding operations.
- Build cables and ensure proper functionality of networked PLC systems.
- Provide project updates and reports to management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Administer performance reviews and support investigations related to product quality.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in all activities.
- Support 5S activities and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Travel as required to support operations and projects.
Controls Technician Job Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a related field is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience; 5 years preferred in PLC programming or electrical systems.
- Proficiency in Siemens, Allen Bradley, B&R, Mitsubishi, and Keyence PLC systems.
- Knowledge of laser welding and resistance welding techniques is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, including LOTO and ISO standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Availability to work on-site and adhere to a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts.
- Experience with multiple operating systems, including Windows CE and Linux OS, is preferred.
