Job Description

Registered Nurse Overview

  • The Registered Nurse will provide clinical supervision and professional nursing care to patients in a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Ensure patient satisfaction, safety, and quality of care by adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care in an ambulatory or hospital environment.
  • Manage care team schedules, delegate responsibilities, and oversee daily operations effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and education to Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants within the care team.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, ensuring compliance with nursing standards and physician orders.
  • Conduct patient assessments, document progress notes, and coordinate care interventions in the Electronic Health Record system.
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and ensure proper preparation of equipment for patient examinations.
  • Support infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality practices in compliance with regulations.

Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide clinical supervision to care team members, including delegation, mentoring, and evaluation of staff performance.
  • Manage care team schedules, PTO requests, and daily huddles to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and point-of-care tests as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Conduct patient assessments, verify chief complaints, and document vital signs accurately.
  • Review patient charts for missing labs, reports, and orders, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.
  • Prepare examination rooms and assist physicians during patient treatments and testing procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control policies, safety standards, and patient confidentiality regulations.
  • Provide feedback for staff evaluations and participate in hiring and training processes.
  • Ensure nursing practices align with local, state, and federal guidelines and organizational policies.

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital or ambulatory settings required.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New York required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, regulations, and practices to deliver and evaluate patient care.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical chart reporting.
  • Ability to manage clinical supplies and ensure operational readiness of examination equipment.
  • Skill in identifying problems, recommending solutions, and making clinical decisions independently.
