Radiation Therapist Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Administer radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescriptions and established protocols.
- Educate patients on procedures and equipment to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists to determine and implement optimal treatment plans.
- Monitor patient conditions during treatments and respond to changes appropriately.
- Prepare and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring safety standards and performing quality control procedures.
- Position patients accurately for imaging procedures and analyze results for quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, reporting issues as necessary.
- Document and transmit treatment and imaging results, maintaining accurate patient records.
Radiation Therapist Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-T).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
