Primary Care Physician Overview

  • The Primary Care Physician role focuses on delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care to underserved communities, emphasizing value-based outcomes and holistic health improvement.

Primary Care Physician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic conditions, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Lead a care team to deliver coordinated, patient-focused healthcare services, including education and health promotion.
  • Collaborate with specialists and hospitalists to manage patient care across various settings, including hospitals and long-term care facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and concise documentation using advanced healthcare technologies to support care delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and risk management programs to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Engage in recruiting efforts to expand patient panels and support organizational growth.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Practitioners, ensuring compliance and accountability in patient care.
  • Attend clinical and operational meetings to align with organizational goals and standards.

Primary Care Physician Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics.
  • Active State Medical License and DEA number for controlled substances.
  • Board certification in relevant specialty with ongoing maintenance of certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare documentation systems.
  • Strong commitment to patient-centered care and outcomes-focused healthcare delivery.
  • Ability to travel locally for patient care and nationally for training or recruitment.
  • Fluency in English, with additional language skills preferred based on location needs.
