Patient Service Representative Overview

  • The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and exceptional customer service.
  • Welcome and assist patients entering the healthcare center, ensuring accurate enrollment documentation and insurance verification.
  • Support providers and patients with scheduling follow-up appointments and consultations efficiently.
  • Maintain a welcoming and organized waiting room environment to enhance patient experience.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to patients and internal/external customers.
  • Contribute to the daily operations of the clinic front office with professionalism and accuracy.

Patient Service Representative Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments professionally and accurately, ensuring optimal clinic workflow.
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival, assisting with the registration process as needed.
  • Verify insurance coverage and pre-authorizations for scheduled patients.
  • Answer phone calls, direct callers appropriately, and take messages for providers.
  • Conduct reminder calls and outreach to patients for rescheduling appointments.
  • Prepare medical insurance billing forms and assist clients with sliding fee scale applications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area and waiting room environment.
  • Participate in daily huddles and contribute to team discussions and planning.

Patient Service Representative Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional certifications in medical administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field; eClinicalWorks experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in standard medical field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred for enhanced patient communication.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shifts as required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent customer service skills to meet and exceed patient expectations.
  • Capability to commute to multiple clinic locations as needed.
