Patient Service Representative Overview
- The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and exceptional customer service.
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients entering the healthcare center, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Accurately complete enrollment documentation and verify insurance coverage for patients.
- Assist providers and patients with scheduling follow-up appointments and consultations.
- Facilitate efficient operations of the clinic front office, including patient registration and check-in.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to patients and internal/external customers.
- Contribute to a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area for all visitors.
- Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with team members to enhance clinic efficiency.
Patient Service Representative Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Schedule patient appointments professionally and efficiently, ensuring accuracy in all bookings.
- Greet patients upon arrival, register them, and assist with the registration process.
- Verify insurance coverage for scheduled patients, including pre-authorization checks.
- Answer telephone calls, direct callers to appropriate personnel, and take messages as needed.
- Conduct reminder calls and outreach to patients for rescheduling appointments.
- Prepare medical insurance billing forms and assist clients with sliding fee scale applications.
- Document patient information, including insurance eligibility and assigned PCP, at each visit.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
- Participate in daily reconciliation of metro cards issued to patients.
Patient Service Representative Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; familiarity with medical field practices preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field; E-Clinical Works experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling tasks.
- Ability to work evening and weekend shifts as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Spanish-speaking candidates preferred to enhance communication with diverse patient populations.
- Excellent customer service skills, dedicated to creating positive patient experiences.
- Ability to commute to various clinic locations as required.
