Intake Legal Assistant Coordinator Overview

  • The Intake Legal Assistant Coordinator serves as the primary contact for member intake, assessment, and referral coordination activities.
  • Conduct initial screenings to identify legal service needs and direct members to appropriate resources.
  • Assist members with completing family and financial planning forms and notarization processes.
  • Coordinate referrals to approved immigration attorneys and monitor referral activity.
  • Review legal service invoices for accuracy and compliance with program guidelines.
  • Prepare reports on intake activity, referrals, expenditures, and program outcomes.
  • Support program outreach, educational workshops, and member engagement efforts as needed.
  • Collaborate with legal service providers and program staff to ensure seamless operations.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and empathy in member interactions.

Intake Legal Assistant Coordinator Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct intake and assessment for members seeking immigration-related legal assistance.
  • Coordinate referrals to approved immigration legal service providers.
  • Assist members with completing New York State forms for financial and medical decisions.
  • Schedule consultations between members and participating attorneys.
  • Review invoices submitted by legal service providers for compliance with guidelines.
  • Track payments and resolve billing questions under supervision.
  • Monitor referral volumes, service categories, and provider utilization.
  • Prepare detailed reports on program outcomes and expenditures.

Intake Legal Assistant Coordinator Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Paralegal Certificate or legal studies background preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in client services, intake triage, or legal aid environments.
  • Advanced or bilingual proficiency in Creole is mandatory.
  • Notary Public certification in New York or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and database management tools.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and data entry skills required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
